Karolina Kurkova Joins the Very Sexy Moms

Second in a series this week (collect them all!) is Karolina Kurkova who became a VSM aka Very Sexy Mom when she and her fiance, film producer Archie Drury welcomed son Tobin Jack Drury October 29th.



So, in her well-deserved absence, relive a few memories of Vicky's Fashion Shows Past.

Esquire Presents: Lingerie Models Talking Lingerie

The February 2008 issue of Esquire Magazine has a cover story featuring Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova, Izabel Goulart and Selita Ebanks, and an article entitled Black Stockings: A Lingerie Pictorial.
It's like they're reading our minds.. 'What could our readers want?' Actually, starting your magazine's 75th anniversary year with a cover that echoes one of your most famous issues and wonderful black and white photography by James White of no less than four Victoria's Secret models is not a bad idea at all..



Did I mention they also chatted with each of the ladies about the particular type of lingerie or underwear they were modeling? Ms. Ebanks on the above photo:

ESQ: So those are some white cotton panties.

Selita Ebanks: Me and the classic white panty, we go way back. Back in the day, maybe they had Barbie on the butt or a Cabbage Patch Kid on the front. And I used to think that was pretty hot. I would run around the house with just those on.

ESQ: And now?

SE: I still do.

Every woman tells you she only has a thong in her drawer, but it's not true. We all love our classic white panties. Not every woman wants to show off her butt cheeks. And it's cotton. We love cotton.

While you work through the idea of being a visitor to Ms. Ebanks' house while she's in full pantied jog, consider Adriana Lima on (or in) boy shorts:

ESQ: Do you prefer boy shorts and hip huggers to panties?

Adriana Lima: Definitely. It's like you have nothing on. I use them for traveling --

ESQ: Just boy shorts?

AL: You think they'd allow me on a plane with only boy shorts?

One could hope. Or, on the topic of black bras..

Adriana Lima: I consider black bras elegant and feminine, because they go with anything, anytime.

ESQ: Even if people can't see it?

AL: Well, some people, if they are lucky, will see it. It's important what you wear under your clothes, because it helps you feel confident.

ESQ: And comfortable?

AL: It's almost like you don't have anything on. And it gives you extra cleavage, so it's really, you know [pushes together her breasts] . . . Don't you think?

And they say journalists never shut up and let their subjects talk, anymore.

ESQ: Oh. What does it do, exactly?

KK: You don't know? It brings them closer together and gives you the perfect décolletage underneath your dress.

ESQ: Is it easy to take off?

KK: Very easy. Just open the button. I don't know what it is about you guys and bras. Just practice.

If she's offering instruction, the long line will now form to the right.
There are also dissertations on high-heeled shoes, tank tops and Ms. Kurkova and diamond necklaces..

ESQ: You're wearing these diamonds with nothing else. Is that a good way to wear them?

KK: It's great. Who wouldn't like that? Would you like that if I were sitting in front of you, just wearing these necklaces?

ESQ: Is that even a question?

And, finally Ms. Goulart on the aforementioned black stockings:

ESQ: How would I know what size to buy for a woman?

IG: Go through her drawers and look for her size. Or go to a store and somebody can help you.

ESQ: Or I could wait until she falls asleep and put a tape measure around her thigh.

IG: Well, I'm sure if she woke up in the middle of that, she would be really excited.

A Lingerie Blog BTW: Normally, I'll spot an issue such as this the first thing as it hits the newsstand. I was at Barnes & Noble with with my girlfriend the other night, and missed it entirely. Which, my girlfriend knew, since I made no reference about it to her. As I drop her off at her place, she hands me one of her B&N bags, and says I'm not to open it until I get home. It contained the Esquire. Needless to say, after I read the article (and, of course, looked at the pictures) we ended the evening with quite the phone call. Reason number 9857874392849758549409390 I love my girlfriend..

Karolina Kurkova: Not Just Vicky's Secret

It's easy to think Ms. Kurkova would only wear VS beneath her clothes, but she's modeled a few other fashion items, including the above rather sunny and yellow bra and colorful panties by La Senza.

Maybe it was a change in venue to the newly refurbished Fontainbleau Hotel on Miami Beach, but The 2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show just seemed more colorful and energized than in past years. Not that there was anything wrong with those shows, but at about the half-way point during the Pink portion of the show, my girlfriend and I expressed the same thought to each other: this year was just damn fun. It had been right from when Adriana Lima started it off along with Usher. And, despite the expresssion on his face, I don't think he was seriously worried that Heidi Klum would get too far with his hat.



Speaking of Ms. Klum, yes, Alessandra Amrbosio is the recipient of this year's Honorary HK Yes-I-Just-Had-A-Baby-A-Few-Months-Ago-And-I-Look-Smoking-Hot Trophy





Selita Ebanks truly working her Angels wings as well as the runway; Karolina Kurkova illustrating that lingerie is, indeed, something which can be unbuckled..



In the aforementioned Pink portion of the program, Erin Heatherton somehow managed to incorporate fun, hottness, a great green bra, and the fourth Doctor Who's scarf.

Angels Selita Ebanks, Alessandra Ambrosio, Doutzen Kroes, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima take some well-deserved bows at show's end. You may say, "What? That's all?? Where's (fill in the name of your favorite model not mentioned), Frank U idiot? This is the third year of fufL, and this was perhaps the hardest post-Show post to write, because, with 35 models - and over 400 pictures I collected, narrowed to 72, then to 30, then to what you see here, the question becomes, what can you possibly leave out? I could go on writing it until 6am, and you'll already get carpal tunnel scrolling though it as is. I write the post after my girlfriend and I watch the show in real time and compare notes (no, she will not add anything to any blog posts, though she knows she has a standing offer). The upside of so many more pictures, models and outfits we didn't get to? Future fufL posts. And, as always, your comments are welcomed.

The 2007 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show -or- The Heidi & Seal Family Christmas Special

Go ahead; make a wish on that Angel Tree..




It's so nice when couples can spend the holidays together.. Seal singing his heart out.. her, workin' it in bra, panties and VS Angels wings.. Nice pop-open dress and thigh-high boots.. how quaint. FWIW, my girlfriend's immediate reaction to this outfit? She wants the boots. (Not that I'd mind her having them, mind you..)



Ms. Selita Ebanks had the honor of wearing the million dollar+ diamond-encrusted bra, panties, garter and hair pin ensemble. Give her a few more rings on her fingers and diamonds on her toes and you can get that value up even higher. (You notice they never try to get them to guess the exact retail price without going over of this stuff on The Price Is Right? Hey, Drew Carey wouldn't mind.)



They also let the lady slip into something more comfortable.. Give her a hand..



Somehow, this all looks much more festive than that old March of the Wooden Soldiers.. Nice ornaments on Miranda Kerr, btw



Amazingly, it was Marisa Miller's first year at a VS Fashion Show. Saying she fit right in is an understatement..



How would you like to help Karolina Kurkova through airport security in that outfit? (come to think of it, where does the line form?)



Adriana Lima stealing Sylar's powers in the next chapter of Heroes (actually, I'd say Ms. Lima's always had these particular powers of persuasion)



Aside from the obvious reasons to tune in, there was the big Spice Girls reunion (and the flogging of their CD available only from Vicky's - do they get paid in panties?), host Heidi Klum & husband Seal's duet, and the opening number by Will.i.am

2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Part 2

Some more observations in random order..



Anne Vyalitsyna (Anne V)

My girlfriend and I both expected to like the PINK and Heavenly Bodies segment best, but we actually liked the Country Girls sets second to PINK. Her, especially any with blue denim, like Lindsay Ellingson below, or paisley like Anne V above.



Now we're sort of jonesing to find her a bunch of gingham, paisley or denim panties, maybe with matching bras, like Lindsay's or even Maryna Linchuk's below.



And the blue boots. Not that she has any place to wear them (well, I can think of one place..), but my girlfriend wants those boots. OK, that entire costume. Did I mention she likes wearing Blue lingerie?



And, costume is the correct term. One very valid critique of Vicky's shows that seems rightfully louder each year is, who could actually wear anything seen in the shows? That's addressed in a great post by Treacle on her The Lingerie Addict blog (BTW, if by the off chance you're not reading it regularly, you should). Then again, I forgive the excesses since the show is selling fantasy entertainment - and in turn tons of knickers - but that's kind of their point. Think of it this way: it's a one-hour infomercial no one can say they really suffer through.

So, what could work as actual lingerie, and not just a costume?





How about this bra and panties set Candice Swanepoel wore during the Heavenly Bodies segment? Lose the Angel wings, and she's set. Or keep the wings and lose the bra and panties, and it's somebody's really strange dream sequence, but that's for a very different blog..



Neither of us were all that familiar with Martha Streck before her appearance on the runway, but afterward, we heart her, too. She even tweeted everyone a backstage pic:



Who Wore It Better? In this case the It being an orange bra?



Within minutes of each other, Karolina Kurkova or Adriana Lima?



I'm not sure what superhero Ms. Lima is supposed to be ('Soccer Mom'?) but I'll watch for the movie, 3-D or not..





Alessandra Ambrosio on why ruffle-butt panties can still be cute and hott at the same time - and not to be out-done:



Magdalena Frackowiak, proving even Akon can have a thankless job. That's him. To her right. On the stage. Oh, hadn't noticed him either, huh?



How about a front-flash from Lily Aldridge? They are trying to sell the panties, after all..

I realize some people think the show jumped the shark long ago, but some of us look at it as a lot of fun (especially when they spend a little more time talking with the models as they did this year).
