I'll try to add to this as more people ask additional questions, though I make no pretense that this particular post/page will be frequently updated. So, In no particular order, some that have been passed along in published (and unpublished) comments:
Why the name 'L ingerie Blog'?
Long ago, I used 'franku' on a site, and kept it when I got to a few more modern forums. As you can probably guess, a first name and an initial.
I started two Piczo pages as an experiment that were really little more than a montages of lingerie and underwear photos. They were simply 'frankufotos' When I started the blog, I needed a name. Can you tell not too much thought went into it?
Why lingerie and underwear?
Everyone has a fetish; welcome to mine. A far more detailed explanation can be found in one of my earliest posts which is an abridged article of a wonderful writer, editor (and cupcake advocate!), Rachel Kramer Bussel.
Did a particular blog or blogger inspire you to try writing your own blog?
Yes, and I told that story in this post. Ms. jay's blog, Daily Panties is gone, with the url now hosting a static page on mortgages, but I leave the link on fufL in the hope that she'll return one day. My original post about Daily Panties.
Another dead link that I purposely leave in my Links is for the late, lamented Bilkoscans. Talk about a great collection of scans. I always envied the work that went into them, which leads to the next question--
Do you make your own scans/
Where do you get the photos for the blog?
I do NONE of the scans - I don't even own a scanner. Every picture you see is found on lingerie manufacturer websites, or through Google. It amazes me how good some of this work is. I wish I could do scans, but, even it I could, I doubt if I could come up with the volume and the variety. My hat is off to the original scanners/artists and especially the photographers.
Do you accept ads?
Nope.
Why not? You too good for filthy lucre?
Not at all; that's why I have a real-life job. Several reasons here. Since, as I've made clear, I don't own or originate any of the images, I don't feel I have a right to make any money off of them. I have nothing against other blogs that do, but I have the most respect for the ones who really put a lot of time and effort into writing informative posts about lingerie and underwear, and thus really earn whatever they do from monetized blogs. You'll find some excellent blogs like this in my Links. I write this blog as a hobby. The pressure of just keeping it interesting is all I really care to have.
I realized awhile back that many of these images are on a ton of other sites and blogs. I see what I do as more on an editor. I could post 25 new images a day with no commentary, but I'd rather do about 4 a week and try to pick really the best or most topical I can find. Which leads to:
How often do you post?
Usually four times a week; Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Sometimes I do a themed week, like 'May we see you bra/panties/underwear' 'Valentines', 'Wedding' or 'Flowers' which have a few extra posts.
Why Blue Mondays?
The Blue Monday posts came about for several reasons. One is the memorable phrase, which I'm sure gets me a few hits from people who'll never remember the blog's name. The original reason? My girlfriend loves blue lingerie. Good blue lingerie seems to be harder to find, too. In my girlfriend's case, she does have a good amount of it, but also a lot of blue-accented lingerie, such as white cotton panties or sets with either blue piping or prints and designs. In fact, the first time I ever saw an unintentional glimpse of her panties was when she was leaning over to pick up something she got for me that she had hidden behind a chair - Yep, white cotton with blue paisley designs and a waist band. As our relationship progressed, she eventually found out why I had such a fond memory of her giving me that particular gift..
Does your girlfriend know about fufL, and if she does, what does she think of her boyfriend posting all these pictures of lingerie models and celebrities?
Once it became clear to me that I was actually going to keep the blog going, I did show it to her. She'd already seen a good number of the pictures because I'd shown them to her. She has the same lingerie/underwear fetish I do, amazing as that seems.
A good number of the posts have sparked a search for similar items to add to her collection, and in some cases she's even found or suggested particular pictures for a post.
Is she Bi?/Isn't she threatened by you looking at/posting these pictures?
Not that she hasn't had an offer or two, but, no, she's straight; she just enjoys the pictures as well, and why would she be threatened when she's real and real-life? Of any pictures that may get a more erotic reaction out of me, let's just say she's the beneficiary of those reactions..
Does she write any of the posts?
I wish; if you can talk her into even 'guest-writing' one, go ahead, because (thus far) I've had no luck.
You always refer to her as 'my girlfriend', but you never mention her name.
Yep. Next question ; )
Anything different in what you do now from when you started?
The biggest difference? I really didn't think there would be any posts about celebrities, but it seems there are a good number of them that can't wait to strip down for professional photo shoots these days. Usually about when they've got a new movie coming out for some strange reason.. hmm.. can't imagine why..
Well, what about when so-and-so breaks up with so-and-so, or when Celebrity X gets caught screwing around with So-Called Celeb Y?
You know what? I may not be immune to it, but I'm no fan of gossip. There may be some posts that are more topical because of it, but this is NOT a gossip blog. You may find a positive post about, say, a lingerie model becoming a Very Sexy Mom (or a VSM as I call them; I really don't like the term MILF), but if someone's marriage is going down the drain, I find no entertainment value in that. Or in bad or outright evil behavior. I've skipped over some really great photos of certain people because I just didn't want to celebrate someone with questionable tastes (example? one or two ladies who may be beautiful to look at, but seem to hold to some pretty racist, homophobic or other hateful ideas).
Hey, what about that great Paparazzi shot of so-and-so's upskirt or boob flash?
While a few of those may be planned (I know; you're shocked)I look at it this way: if an actress or model is posing in her panties, she has no problems with being seen that way, and probably got paid a nice agreed-upon sum for it. I'd like to think they get some great lingerie out of the deal as well. Otherwise? Let's not celebrate an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction, even if they really should have known better.
There are a lot of fantastic swimsuit photo shoots, too. Why don't you include those?
Aside from the fact it's a lingerie blog, let me try to explain it the easiest way. Even if a beach bikini shows more skin than a bra and panties set, why would I find the underwear far more interesting? Because it's just that: underwear. The bathing suit, however hot/small is meant to be seen in public. Lingerie, despite some fashion trends, is intimate; meant to be unseen except by a lucky few and in that intimate setting. Sort of a Forbidden Fruit-of-The-Loom.
So, why no nudity?
I have no doubt some people would look at this blog as pornography; they really shouldn't be reading it, then, should they? I'm not against it, but, guess what? If you want nudity, I think you can already find plenty of it, and even if I find a fantastic picture of a knock-out model in the greatest pair of panties ever made, if she's topless - or in a great bra but bottomless - are most people going to even be looking at the lingerie?
How much longer will you write the blog?
Great question. Damned if I know is the most honest answer I can give you. I was in college when I started, and I've been out in the Real World for a few years, now. I can't spend as much time on-line as I used to, and if something's got to give, it'd be this blog before time with my girlfriend or my career. Also, as of this writing, it's still fun. That stops, so do the new posts. I'd have no plans to delete the work I've done, but if new posts cease one day, now you'll know why.
So, when are you going to get around to replacing all those dead images from the Photobucket days?
Um.. someday? ; ) See above to figure out a time-frame.
What's your e-mail addy so I can contact you?
I have all the e-mail I can handle IRL; the comments are moderated - just leave me one if you have a comment or question. Feedback is always welcomed, and THANKS for reading!
